| Background:Renal angiomyolipoma is a kind of benign tumor. In the past it was thought to be rare. With the development of ultrasonography and CT scanning, the discovery of this disease has increased.Much of the current clinical renal angiomyolipoma is found in routine physical examination, with no symptoms and signs.25%of renal angiomyolipoma patients are easy to spontaneous rupture, which can be fatal if not been identified and promptly treated.Because renal angiomyolipoma is a kind of benign tumor, the nephron sparing surgery is the best treatment. Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and surgical feasibility of nephron sparing surgery (NSS) in the management of renal angiomyolipoma(RAML).Methods:The clinical data of 22 cases with renal angiomyolipoma in our hospital from June 2005 to February 2008 were reviewed. All patients were examined by ultrasonography and CT scanning, and all of them were diagnosed renal angiomyolipoma before the operations. All patients received nephron sparing surgery. Results:All patients were confirmed renal angiomyolipoma by pathological report.Surgical operations were conducted in 12 patients with partial nephrectomy and 10 with enucleation.Average time of operation was 115 minutes.Average blood loss volume was 350ml.No complications occurred in operation.Renal inadequacy occurred in 1 case.Perirenal hematoma occurred in 1 case. The average follow up period of 22 patients was 28.7 months. No patients had local recurrence. Conclusions:RAML could be diagnosed specifically by ultrasonography and CT scanning.NSS is a safe method in RAML patients with a high achievement ratio.Effective control of haemorrhage and conserving of renal function as far as possible are the key points. |
