| Objective:1.To evaluate the abnormality of Ankle-Brachial Index(ABI) in metabolic syndrome(MS) population.2.To investigate the correlation between MS and ABI.3.To investigate the association between ABI and cardiovascular risk factorsMethods:The people, who came to the hospital for health examination, were measured the ABI,height, body weight, blood pressure, blood biochemistry and The Body-Mass Index(BMI).According to the diagnostic criteria of Chinese Diabetes Society.Among the people, there were 158 cases in the group of MS,and the group of None-MS had 692 cases that didn't accord with the diagnostic criteria. It was defined abnormality that ABI was no more than 0.9.Then the abnormality of ABI between two groups was compared;According to the metabolic abnormal components of MS which included four ingredients, the group of MS was classified into five subgroups, such as M0,M1,M2,M3 and M4.Then the abnormality of ABI of each subgroup was analyzed and the correlation between MS and ABI was also analyzed; The statistical methods including the univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to investigate the independent risk factor of abnormal ABI.Results:(1)The incidence of abnormal ABI was 36.71%in the group of MS, however, only 11.13%in the group of None-MS,and there was significant statistical difference(X2=63.01,P<0.01);(2)According to the increase of metabolic abnormal components of MS,the proportion of ABI =0.9 was risen gradually.Among the people who were diagnosed MS,there were significant differences in statistics between MS and non-MS group in age(P<0.001),diabetes mellitus(P=0.009),hypertention (P=0.042) and smoking(P=0.012).However,there were no significant differences in BMI(P=0.672)and dyslipidemia(P=0.663);(3)Age(OR=3.06,95%CI,1.22~5.13, P<0.01),diabetes mellitus(OR=2.92,95%CI,1.47~5.96,P=0.017) and smoking (OR=2.45,95%CI,1.05~5.87,P=0.036) were the independent risk factors to predict the abnormality of ABI.Conclusion:The incidence of abnormal ABI was high in the people with MS. Abnormal ABI in patients with MS is more popular in advanced age, diabetes mellitus, hypertention and smoking patients. There was close correlation between MS and peripheral artery disease, and age, diabetes mellitus and smoking were the independent risk factors to predict the abnormality of ABI.The measurement of ABI should be acted as routine among the people with MS disease. |
