【Objective】To observe the therapeutic effect of GAD and to discuss the therapeutic mechanism,treated by acpuncture on the Back Shu point.【Methods】Sixty GAD patients were devided randomly into three groups:Group A(n=20) received 5-HT Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors(SSRIs) of Paroxetine and Aiprazolam;Group B(n=20) received acupuncture- therapy,the mian points were Xinshu,Jueyinshu,Ganshu,Pishu,Weishu,Shenshu,selected the necessary points when they were needed,and some other two supplementary points;Group C(n=20) received the combined treatment of the above two groups.The treatment lasted 6 weeks.The therapeutic effect was evaluated by counting scores of the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Clinical Global Impression-Improvement Ratings(CGI) befor treatment and 2,4 and 6 weeks after the treatment.Side effects were evaluated with the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) 2,4 and 6 weeks after the treatment.【Results】Data was processed by software of SPSS 14.0 version.After cured in 6 weeks,there were no statistically differences of total therapeutic effect among 3 groups,the value of P was more than 0.05 which was compared by each two in the three groups.But the efficacy index was higher in Groups B and Group C than that in Group A,the value of P was less than 0.01 which was compared Group A and Group B to Group C.The differences of TESS scores were significant between 3 groups in different time,the value of P was less than 0.01 which were compared by each two in the three groups,and the score of Group B was lowest and the Group C was lower in the three groups.【Conclusion】1.There was significant effect among Group A,Group B and Group C.2.The efficacy indexes in Group B and Group C are significant higher than Group A.3.The side effect of acpuncture was the lowest in the 3 groups,and can fight the side effect of th e drug.
