| Background: esophageal cancer is one of most common digesting system tumors, it has a high incidence, Five years survival rate is lower than 10%.Along with understanding to pathogenesis of the esophageal cancer, more and more genetic research confirmed that VEGF(vascular endothelial growth factors), MMP-9(Matrix metallo Proteinase-9)were correlated with the carcinogenesis, metastasis and recurrence of esophageal cancer.The mechanism of these genes and the relationship among these genes and the clinical diagnosis,prognosis of esophageal cancer were deeply studied, which can provide evidences for clinical diagnosis and treat.Objective:To investigate the expression level of VEGF and MMP-9 in esophageal cancer and normal esophageal mucosa in Guangxi, and its relationship with clinical predictive indicators,and the correlation between them.Method:The SP(streptavidin peroxidase) immunohistochemical method was used to detected the expression of VEGF and MMP-9 in 80 cases of esophageal cancer and 10 cases of normal esophageal mucosa,andχ2 test, fisher exact probability method and the spearman correlation were used for statistical analysis.Results:1.VEGF positive expression rate in esophageal cancer was 62.25%,significantly higher than that of normal esophageal mucosa (p<0.05).The positivity expression of VEGF had no significant correlation with the patient's age, sex,and histological type(P>0.05),but is correlation with degree of the differentiation,tumors invade depth,elinieal stag ,and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).2.MMP-9 positive expression in esophageal cancer rate was 80.00%, significantly higher than that of normal esophageal mucosa (P<0.05). The positivity expression of MMP-9 had no significant correlation with the patient's age, sex, histological type(P>0.05), but is correlation with degree of the differentiation,tumors invade depth,and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). 3. VEGF and MMP-9 had positive correlation each other(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. VEGF and MMP-9 positive expression rate in esophageal cancer was significantly higher than that of normal esophageal mucosa , and MMP-9,VEGF highly expressed in process of esophageal cancer is a common events in Guangxi. 2.the over-expression of MMP-9 and VEGF were significantly correlated with the carcinogenesis,development, metastasis of esophageal cancer and they had positive correlation with each other, participation of esophageal cancer development, may have mutual coordination. |
