| Objective To study the change of the serum antidiuretic hormone level before and after surgical excision of sella tumors and the relationship with water and sodium disorders. Methods This research selected 30 patients from 37 patients of sella tumors between November, 2006 and January, 2007, and tested the serum antidiuretic hormone level before and after surgery. According to the types of water and sodium disorders, 30 patients were divided into 4 groups: the normal group(Normal), the group of diabetes insipidus(DI), the group of cerebral salt wasting syndrome(CSWS), the group of the syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone(SIADH).The group of diabetes insipidus(DI) was divided into 2 groups: the group being treated with pituitrin(DIA) and the group not being treated with pituitrin(DIB).Results There were 8 patients in normal group, not obviously different from the level before surgery;15 patients in the group of DI, 7 patients in the group of DIA, obviously higher than the level before surgery; 8 patients in the group of DIB, obviously lower than the level before surgery; 5 patients in the group of CSWS, not obviously different from the level before surgery; 2 patients in the group of SIADH, obviously higher than the level before surgery. Conclusion Water and sodium disorders was one of most common complications of the patients of sella tumors, had close connection with the change of the serum antidiuretic hormone level before and after surgery. |
