| Objective: To investigate the relationship between lumbosacral transitional vertebra and the lumbar disc herniation. Methods: Compare the incidence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra between the lumbar disc herniation(LDH) group and the control group, compare the incidence of different types of lumbosacral transitional vertebra, analyze the difference in the incidence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra between the LDH group and the control group. Results: There is a significant difference in the incidence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra between the LDH group and the control group. In the LDH group with transitional vertebra, the lumbar disc herniation mostly occur at the upper one disc from the transitional vertebra. Conclusion: Lumbosacral transitional vertebra is one of the important factors in the emergence of lumbar disic herniation. It can influence the stability of lower back bone in many ways and reduce it. It can alter the biomechanics of weight transfer at the affected spinal segment, accelerate the regression of discs and eventually cause the emergence of LDH. |
