ObjectiveH-reflex plays an important role in the estimation of radiculopathy, but its utility limits in lower limb, rarely in upper limb. After using needle electrode, the probability of finding the H-reflex of flexor cardi radialis(FCR) raised a lot.FCR is dominated by C6 and C7 nerve root. Through studying the probability of the abnormalities of the H-reflex of FCR in the patients of C6 radiculopathy or C7 radiculopathy, discuss the H-reflex of FCR is more relative to C6 radiculopathy or C7 radiculopathy.MethodsThe patients who have no other peripheral neuropathy by examed ordinary EMG and diagnosis with asymmetry C6 radiculopathy or C7 radiculopathy have been checked by the H-reflex of FCR.A R/L difference of the reflex latencies of 1.2 msec pr more and a failure to record the reflex ar definded as abnormal.ResultsIn 11 C6 radiculopathy subjects,8 males and 3 females, the ages of 44 to 65(mean 56 years),in 10 The C7 radiculopathy subjects,6 males and 4 females, the ages of 17 to 61(mean 43 years) were studied. Examination yielded abnormalities in 52.4%of 21 patients who have asymmetry C6 radiculopathy or C7 radiculopathy,in 90.9%of 7 patients who diagnosis with asymmetry C6 radiculopathy, and only one is found in the patients who diagnosis with asymmetry C7 radiculopathy.ConclusionsIt indicates that the FCR H-reflex examination may be relative to the diagnosis of C6 radiculopathy.
