ObjectiveTo study the effects of different anaesthetic techniques on the IL-16 and IL-10 inflammatory cytokines.Methods64 patients, scheduled for elective thoracic surgery were randomly allocated to receive either general anaesthesia combined epidural anesthesia(group A) or pure general anaesthesia(group B) for their anesthesia. The same anesthesia agents were chosen to induce for all patients. The patients in group A were punctured into epidural space through T6~7 or T7~8,The anesthesia plan was under T2~4~T8~10 level. The homodynamic stander, revival time, the tracheal extubation time were recorded respectively.Blood samples were collected before induction of anaesthesia at 0(T0),1.5h after beginning of operation(T1),4h(T2) and 24h(T3) postoperation.Results1:The level of IL-6 in the group B was higher in the group A(P<0.05) and the level of IL-10 in the group B was lower in the group A(P<0.05).2: There was no significant difference among the homodynamic standers in the group of general anaesthesia combined epidural anesthesia, while they increases in the group of pure general anaesthesia;3:The revival time and the tracheal extubation time in group B was longer than the group A(P<0.05).ConclusionsPhoracic surgery elicits pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine response which is affected by thoracic epidural analgesia.Epidural block can reduce the stress to major thoracic surgery.Hemodynamics during pre-operation on thoracic surgery patients in general anesthesia combined with thoracic epidural block is more stable than that of simple general anesthesia. In all,General anesthesia combined with epidural block can stabilize the hemodynamics and reduce the stress. It can be applied safely and effectively.
