Objective:To investigate the relationship between lymphatic microvessel density (LMVD)and clinical pathology of gastric carcinoma.Methods:The specimens were taken from 58 cases with gastric cancer and 19 cases with normal gstric tissue in the first affiliated hospital in Anhui Medical University from 2007 to 2008.the ration of sex man and woman with gastric cancer was 38:20,the age varied from 36 to 77 years old,26 cases were the middle and well differtiated adenocarcinoma and 32 cases were low-and undiffertiated ;36 cases had lymphnode metastasis and 22 without;24 cases tumor diameter were beyond 5cm and 34 below;37 cases infiltrated into serosa and 21 without;22 cases were located cardiac and upper part,19 and 17 were located middle and low part.The radical operations were taken to all cases and R2 lymphadenectomy were mainly used.Using SP immunohisto- chemistry,we studied the expression of VEGFR-3 and LYVE-1 in gastric cancer and its relationship with tumor infiltration,metastasis and so on.SPSS13.0 was used to analyze the results.The expression of VEGFR-3,LYVE-1 in 58 gastric cancers(GC)was detected by immunohistochemistry (SP-9001),by which the LMVD was calculated.Results:1. The lymphangiogenesis was shown in tumoral tissue in GCs.The LMVD of tumoral tissue in GCs(15.36±4.51,16.09±6.18)was significantly higher than that of normal gastric tissue(9.95±2.92,9.93±3.18)(P=0.000).2. Immunohistochemistry in VEGFR-3:LMVD with lymphatic metastasis (19.06±4.22)was higher than that without lymphatic metastasis(9.35±3.56,)(P=0.000).LMVD with serosal invasion (17.27±3.73)was higher than that without serosal invasion(14.33±3.42)(P<0.05).LMVD with big tumor size(diameter≥5cm) (19.59±3.13)was higher than those with small tumor size(diameter<5cm)( 12.31±2.88, )(P=0.000).3. Immunohistochemistry in LYVE-1 : LMVD with lymphatic metastasis( 19.49±3.41)was higher than that without lymphatic metastasis(12.72±6.83)(P=0.000).LMVD with serosal invasion (18.94±4.51)was higher than that without serosal invasion(13.79±6.69)(P<0.05).LMVD with big tumor size(diameter≥5cm) (18.35±5.23)was higher than those with small tumor size(diameter<5cm) (12.40±5.82)(P=0.000).4. There was no significant diference between LMVD and the tumor location and histopathologic type of cancer.(P>0.05).LMVD in GCs showed positive relations with tumor size,tumor depth and lymphatic metastasis.(P<0.05)5.The result of immunohistochemistry in VEGFR-3 is corrected with LYVE-1.Conclusion:LMVD in GCs showed positive relations with tumor size,tumor depth and lymphatic metastasis.It was benefit to evaluate the prognosis and treatment of gastric carcinoma when it had become a number factor that tumor induced to generate 1ymphatic vessel.
