| Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the hypoglycemic effect of gastic bypass in type 2 diabeiic rats by alloxan induced and evaluate islands of Langerhans after operation.Methods thirty male Wistar diabetic rats by Alloxan were randomly allocated into three groups:GBP(group A),shame operation (group B)and controls(group C). Plasma glucose concetration,inslulin,weight,were measured respectively at fasting at the 1st week, 2nd week, 3rd week,4th week, 6th week,8th week after GBP in all rats. The pathologic changes of islaand of Langerhans were obseved .Results 3 weeks after operation in GBP rats ,mean fasting plasma glucose concentration were reducred and fasting plasma insulin concentration increased. and marked changes happened 4 weeks after GBP. These results were not seen in the group B despite similar same postoperative weight gain profile. GBP resulted in the numbers of island of Langerhans increased in the group A.Conclusion GBP can markedly reduce plasma glucose in Alloxan diabetic rats and increase fasting plasma insulin concentration.the hypoglycemic effect may owe to more island of Langerhans after GBP. |
