Objective:The expression of CD147,MMP-9 protein in human hepatocellula carcinoma was investigated to explore the relationship of invasion, metastatic of human hepatocellula carcinoma and prognosis of patients with human hepatocellula carcinoma to CD147,MMP-9 expression.Method:Specimens were taken from 83 human hepatocellula carcinoma tissues and 15 normal liver tissues from Taizhou Hospital. These specimens were obtained from the patients who underwent hepatotomy from January 2001 to March 2004.SP immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate the expression of CD147 and MMP-9 in 83 human hepatocellula carcinoma tissues and 15 normal liver tissues. Results:The positive rates of CD147,MMP-9 were significantly higher in human hepatocellula carcinoma tissues than in normal liver tisses(68.7%vs.0%and 73.5% vs.6.7%,P<0.05 ).CD147 and MMP-9 were positively correlated with the size of tumor(P<0.05),pTNM tumor stages(P<0.05),the differentiation degree of tumor(P<0.05),the portal vein cancer embolism(P<0.05)and the recurrence of tumor (P<0.05),but not with the patient's age,the patient's sex,the level of alpha-fetoprotein inserum before surgery, the patient's Child-Pugh grade.Patients with positive expression of CD147,MMP-9 had worse survival than those with negative one.The expression of CD147 was positively correlated with MMP-9 in human hepatocellula carcinoma tissues.Conclusion:CD147,MMP-9 indirectly express the degree of malignancy of human hepatocellula carcinoma. They have a certain relationship with the occurrence, development and metastasis of human hepatocellula carcinoma. They can be used as evaluating indicators of the degree of malignancy of human hepatocellula carcinoma and the prognosis of patients with human hepatocellula carcinoma.CD 147 may control the invasion of human hepatocellula carcinoma by stimulating the expression of MMP-9.
