| [Objective] To study the relevance between the level of the peripheral endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and the hepatic artery-portal vein shunting (HA-PVS) in primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC). The influences of HA-PVS forming on types, complications, metastasis and prognosis of liver cancer were studied by analysing clinical data of the patients in the two cancer groups.[Methods] The proportion of EPCs in the peripheral lymphocytes of 20 cases of the healthy control,22 cases of the chronic hepatitis B,30 cases of the PHC without HA-PVS and 28 cases of the PHC with HA-PVS were detected by flow cytometry respectively. Pairwise of sample means were carried out by Newman-Keuls method. The rate of Tumorous types, complications and metastasis were compared in the two cancer groups and the differences were deduced usingχ2 test.[Results](1) In the two cancer groups, the proportion of EPCs were all significantly higher than that in the chronic hepatitis B group and the healthy control group (P<0.01); (2) Compared with the PHC group without HA-PVS, the proportion of EPCs in the PHC group with HA-PVS was significantly higher (P<0.01);(3) Massive-liver cancer was most common in the two cancer groups, especially in the PHC group with HA-PVS, there was statistical significance (P=0.031);(4) The rate of ascites and portal thrombosis were higher in the cancer group with HA-PVS, and all had statistical significance(P=0.036, P=0.044).ã€Conclusions】(1) In the two cancer groups, the proportion of EPCs were significantly higher than that in the chronic hepatitis B group and in the healthy control group, showed that the level of EPCs were higher in the patients with PHC;(2) The proportion of EPCs in the PHC group with HA-PVS was significantly higher than the PHC group without HA-PVS, showed that the relevance between the level of the peripheral EPCs and the forming of HA-PVS maybe exist;(3) The rate of massive-liver cancer, ascites and portal thrombosis were higher in the cancer group with HA-PVS, showed that the expression of EPCs in peripheral blood and HA-PVS forming maybe reflect the clinical features of PHC on type, complications, metastasis and prognosis. |
