Objectiv:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of " Address Both The Symptoms And root Causes " as the main point acupuncture on lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Also to explore the more effective kind of acupuncture treatment of LDH.Methods:60 cases of LDH patients were randomly divided into two groups:" Address Both The Symptoms And root Causes " electro-acupuncture group(Treatment group) and Traditional electro-acupuncture group (Control group). Observe the clinical therapeutic effect of two groups after treatment, then compare the VAS score, ADL score, JOA score and clinical efficacy.Result:(1) Compared before and after treatment, the differences in the two methods of acupuncture treatment of LDH were statistically significant(P<0.01). (2) Compared before and after treatment, the differences in VAS score, ADL score and JOA score were improved in varying degrees(P<0.01). (3) Compared two groups after treatment, the immediate VAS score, ADL score and JOA score were no statistically significant(P>0.05); but the VAS score, ADL score and JOA score after two courses were statistically significant(P<0.05) Conclusions:(1)The two methods of acupuncture treatment of LDH have good clinical efficacy. (2)The two methods of acupuncture treatment of LDH have good efficacy in improving pain symptoms and activities of daily living. (3) For the treatment of LDH," Address Both The Symptoms And root Causes" electro-acupuncture was better than Traditional electro-acupuncture in long-term efficacy, it is worth of further in-depth research and can be wide spreading in clinical application.
