Dietotherapy lives and grows together with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), and has been researched and practised in all the ages.This paper starts with the definition of dietotherapy,the relationship of medicine and food,as well as the outline history of dietotherapy, and goes feather to explore, collate and research the ancient books of TCM which are closely related to dietotherapy.The discussion of the status quo, the problems to face and the practice in present is also an impotent aspect in this paper.The definition of dietotherapy is different from one to another because of the various purpose of research. With the reference of these "Definitions ", a conclusion could be made.The dietotherapy is based on the theory of TCM.It involves in the research of the food function, the relationship of food and health,and refers to the use of food (or food and medicine) to maintain the health, prevent and cure disease.In the later analysis of the relationship of medicine and food, this paper discusses the difference and connection between them, which should be treated with dialectical eye. This analysis also plays a importent role in dividing the dietotherapy document.This paper focuses on the famous experts' work in TCM, and briefly collates the dietotherapy documents in ancient books of TCM from Pre-Qin Period to Qing dynasty, which outlines the thread of dietotherapy. During the exploration, collation and research of ancient books of TCM which are closely related to dietotherapy, the representative works are chosen, and both their general contents and specialties are stated, which gives a clue to dietotherapy research. At the same time, the opinions of the status quo of dietotherapy, the problems to face and the dietotherapy practice in present are presented...
