| BackgroundsNowadays, vertigo is one of the most common symptoms, in which patients prone to a sense of fear or even dying, so it has become one of the major factors causing emergency medical treatment. Vertigo naming of symptoms includes many diseases in modern medicine. It has various etiologies, of which the cervical vertigo, vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency, and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo are more common. After treatment, patients often have residual autonomic nerve dysfunction such as dizziness, nausea, vomit, heart palpitation, sweating and other symptoms in different degree, which seriously influences patients'daily life and work. Traditional Chinese Medicin(TCM) recuperates body as a whole and improve such clinical symptoms positively. The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of combining TCM with routine western medicine in improve the clinical symptoms of vertigo and life quality of patients, and discuss the etiology and mechanism in Traditional Chinese Medicine.ObjectivesEvaluate the effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine combining with Western Medicine in the treatment of the cervical vertigo, vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency, and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in 2 weeks,3 months follow-up, and compare the effect with the group treated by only western medicine. So as to Provide the clinical evidence of expanding application of this program and lay the foundation for the promotion in the community.Methods The cases of cervical vertigo, vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency, and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo were from emergency clinic and Neurology Out-patient.60 patients were divided by randomized, single-blind into 2 groups:the treatment group was treated with traditional Chinese Medicine combining with Western Medicine; the control group was treated with western medicine alone. The Vertigo symptom scores, life functions and life quality were assessed by the VSI and DHI before and 14 days and 3 months after the treatment. Took data analysis and statistics and compared the clinical effects.ResultThe Vertigo symptom scores, life functions and life quality were not significantly different between the treatment group and the control group (P>0.05) after 14-day treatment, but there were statistically significant difference after 3 months follow-up (P<0.05)ConclusionThe long-term therapeutic effects of the treatment group administered with traditional Chinese Medicine combining with Western Medicine was superior to the control group administered with western medicine alone. |
