ã€Objective】To study the implication of carotid atery lntima-media thickness,serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tissue ihibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 in patients with Senile hypertension.ã€Methods】A total of 135 senile hypertension patients were enrolled in this study and categorized into groupA,B,C and D according to pulse pressure.[≤40 mmHg (Group A 14 cases), 41 ~ 60 mmHg (group B 57 cases), 61 ~ 80 mmHg (Group C 44 cases) and> 81 mmHg (Group D 20 cases) ]Patients have been discontinued antihypertensive and antihydealipidense medicines for>1 month and patients complicated with diabetes mellitus,coronary heart disease, hyperlipemia, or suspected having secondary hypertension were excluded, etc.65 healthy served as controls. Detect all the people's serum MmP-9,TIMP-1 concentration and carotid artery intima - media thickness,24hours blood pressure.ã€Results】Compared with controls,the average intima - media thickness of the eldly hypertension patients, was significantly higher(P<0.05)and IMT levels are positively correlated with pulse pressure(r=0.655,P<0.05)compared with controls, no marked difference of plasma MMP-9,TIMP-1 were found between patients with group A and controls[(0.97±0.18)vs(0.65±0.11)mm, (202±27.5)比(200±40.65)P<0.05], patients with groupB,C and D had significantly higher MMP-9 levels[(140±21.6),(158±19.2),(169±20)比(118.5±40.6)P<0.05]. Serum TIMP-1 level in B,C and D groups of patients are lower than that of controls[(170±28.1),(123±15.23),(100.47±21.15)比(200±40.65)P<0.05] Serum MMP-9 are positively correlated with IMT levels(r=0.601 P<0.05)serum TIMP1 are negatively correlated with IMT levels(r=-0.493 P<0.05)ã€Conclusion】There are some relevance between serum MMP-9, TIMP-1 and elderly hypertensive patients'IMT.
