Humata tyermanni Moore is one species of genus of Davalliaceae, Humata. People of Yao nationality usually use its rhizome as their traditional Chinese herbal medicine, which is called Bai Maoshe too. Humata tyermanni Moore is widely distributed in the east part, the south and the southwest part of China, etc. In this thesis, we investigate the chemical constituents of Humata tyermanni Moore further, to exploit vegetable drugs in Yao nationality.Considering the Petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fractions from the 95% alcoholic extract of Humata tyermanni Moore's rhizome possess excellent antiviral activity, we had systematically investigated the chemical constituents on these two fractions from Humata tyermanni Moore.Seventeen compounds had been isolated from these fractions. Their structures were identified by means of 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, MS and IR respectively These compounds were identified as hop-22(29)-ene(1); stigmast-4-ene-3,6-dione(2); hop-22(29)-ene-24-ol(3); adiant-one(4); friedelin(5); cyclobalanone(6); 4-hydroxybenzoic acid(7); 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-3,6di-methylbenzoic acid(8); 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(9); 22-hydroxyhopane(10); 17(21)- hopene-6a-ol(11); 6a,22-dihydroxyhopane(12);β-sitost-erol(13); 17(21)-hopene(14); cyclolaudenone (15); cyclolaudenol(16); cycloneolitsol(17). Compound 3 was a new compound. These compo-unds were isolated from this genus for the first time except compounds 1,5and 10. Our studying played a great driving role on herbal drugs of Yao nationality.Determinating the antitumor inhibitory activities of Humata tyermanni Moore's ethanol-extraction components, each extraction parts by MTT assay on three cell lines. The result suggested that the ethanol-extraction components and petroleum ether extract parts possessed preferable activities on human Hela, HT-29 and CNE cell lines.
