PurposeInsomnia is the common disease with sleeping difficulty as a symbolic character. Mild symptom can show hardly falling asleep or easily waking up and sleepless after waking up. Severe symptom can show whole night awake companying with headache, dizziness, and amnesia etc. Emotion overacting, improper diet, aging, illness or genetic deficiency can cause Ying Wei disharmonized and Yang failed entering Yin, which occurs Insomnia. Insomnia divides into two types; they are Primary Insomnia and Secondary Insomnia.According to comprehensive modern research, acupuncture is the common method to treat Insomnia by knowing its simplicity, efficiency, safety, and less side-effect. Apparently, the clinical results do not have vivid evidences and specific numbers to prove how effective acupuncture is, because majority of the clinical researches are not precise. The clinical reports mainly refer by self experiences or observations.Method:For clinical research, this study selected Primary Insomnia patients to treat by combination of acupuncture and Ear-Points Application with Cowherb Seeds, and the comparison of control group and treating group is random. This study scaled the research results by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.ResultSix observing categories of this research are:Sleep quality, sleep length, sleep efficiency, sleep difficulty, sleeping-pill application, and day time functioning. The practical results proved acupuncture and Ear-Points Application with Cowherb Seeds do help improving Primary Insomnia symptom.ConclusionThe results showed combination of acupuncture and Ear-Points Application with Cowherb Seeds effected the treatment significantly than only acupuncture. |
