Analysis Of Prescriptions On Compatibility Of Chinese Patent Medicines With Western Medicines In Our Hospital

ObjectiveTo provide an effective overview of how to prescribe Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and western medicine (Modern Medicine) scientifically and rationally, the literatures about the drug interaction of TCM and western medicine combination therapies were analyzed and sorted out. Meanwhile, to upgrade the clinical Pharmacy research level in general hospital of TCM, the rationalities of TCM and western medicine combination therapies application in our hospital were evaluated objectively.MethodsBased on the analysis and classification of the literatures about the drug interaction of TCM and western medicine combination therapies, try to mine and sort out the unreported common used TCM, in which there are the similar chemical ingredients, give the comments on the possible drug interaction between them and western medicines. Based on the inductive results of current literatures, checking the clinic prescriptions of our hospital from 06-01-2010 to 12-30-2010 randomly, try to analyze the prescriptions of TCM and western medicine combination therapies rationally.ResultTotally,5463 clinic prescriptions of TCM and western medicine combination therapies of our hospital from 06-01-2010 to 12-30-2010 were checked randomly, in which there are 93 synergistic action prescriptions (1.7% in all) reported by the literatures of TCM and western medicine combination therapies,158 compatibility of medicines action prescriptions (2.9% in all),12 compatibility of medicines action-like prescriptions (0.2% in all), and 5200 drug interaction-unmentioned prescriptions (95.2% in all) reported by the literaturesConclusionsWe need to know well the ingredients of Chinese Patent Medicines, grasp the physical and chemical properties and the compatibility rules between TCM and western medicines, exert the advantage of TCM and western medicine combination therapies, and avoid the irrational prescription when we apply the TCM and western medicine combination therapies. Meanwhile, need to promote Doctors and Pharmacists to understand the drug interaction of TCM and western medicine combination therapies, emphasize the research on the field of drug interaction of TCM and western medicine combination therapies, thereby improving the clinic Pharmacy business in General Hospital of TCM to perform better.
