Objective:To understand the knowledge, attitude and the basic situation of condom use about AIDS among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) in Xinjiang; To learn the basic situation about Xinjiang FSWs awareness of preventive measures against AIDS, to participate in HIV interventions activity and AIDS counseling and testing; To understand and analyze the acceptability of Pre-Exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among female sex workers in Xinjiang and its influencing factors. Methods:Using quantitative and qualitative research methods for the volunteer female sex workers in some entertainment location in Urumqi and Kelamayi conducted respectively on one-to-one questionnaire survey anonymously and In-depth interview. Results:(1):A total of 50 qualitative interviews, interviews show that FSWs have great grasp about knowledge of AIDS,FSW of AIDS patients/HIV discrimination remains a serious presence,Condom use of commercial sex (Vaginal) situation (47/50) is great but oral sex condom use (7/10) low;The phenomenon of unprotected sex without condoms between the non-commercial sexual partners is still serious and its may be another main reason for the risk of HIV infection; (2):FSWs awareness of AIDS prevention measures is relatively weak, they are not actively involved in AIDS intervention.50 people had never heard of PrEP,32 people (50) expressed their willingness to use PrEP; (3):A total of 762 questionnaires,673 (88.32%) had never heard of PrEP.There are 528 people (69.29%) were willing to take the medicine,145 people (19.03%) were unwilling to take the medicine and 89 people (11.68%) stated that they have the possibility to use the medicine. There is no significant difference in willingness of the Pre-Exposure prophylaxis using in FSWs who work in High, medium and low level places (P=0.285).The subjects who were willing to take PrEP were mainly concerned of the drug security, effectiveness and cost. The main reason for the people who were not willing to take PrEP is that they thought there had no risk of infecting HIV themselves and suspected the medicine effectiveness and worried about drug side effects. Non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that, who get the higher scores of basic knowledge of AIDS have more willings to use PrEP (OR=1.102,P=0.009).who has the high school education level and above of willingness of the PrEP using is 0.558 times (OR=0.558,P=0.042) of the primary school education, willingness of using PrEP of non-discrimination AIDS patients/AIDS infected is 1.568 times (OR=1.568,P=0.030) of the discrimination AIDS patients/AIDS infected. Conclusion:Xinjiang FSWs AIDS related knowledge is great, they have better acceptability to use PrEP.Education level, mastery of basic knowledge of AIDS and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS were also the main factors influnencing their willings for PrEP.The application PrEP should focus on the drug security, effectiveness and the cost in the future.
