Objective To systematically evaluate CYFRA21-1 as the diagnostic standard for pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma.Method All published studies on CYFRA21-1 in diagnosis of pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma from 1993 to 2010 were reviewed. By methodological qualities and Q test,12 papers were selected into this study. The overall diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and area under curve (AUC) from receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were adopted to evaluate CYFRA21-1 as the diagnostic standard for pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma. Results There were 3941 subjects included in this Meta-analysis. The sensitivity and specificity [95% confidence interval (CI)] of CYFRA21-1 were 0.751(0.733~0.768)and0.943(0.930~0.954), respectively. AUC of CYFRA21-1 wsa 0.9222.Conclusion CYFRA21-1 is useful for the diagnosis of pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma.
