| Purpose: To detect differences in retinal thickness in dibetes patients with or without diabetic retinopathy using Stratus optical cohenrence tomography(OCT). To assess the macular retinal fiber layer thickness in diabetic retinopathy. Methods: The cases came frome the outpatients of the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University. All the patiends were divided into 5 groups according to the following standards:Group 1(NC):60 eyes of heath adults;Group 2(NDR): 78 eyes with diabetes but no ophthalmoscopic edidence of retinopathy;Group 3(mild NPDR): 56 eyes with mile nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy;Group 4(severe NPDR): 48 eyes with severe nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy;Group 5(PDR): 63 eyes with proliferatice diabetic retinopathy.Retinal tihickness and RNFL thickness were measured in all the participants by OCT.Using SPSS for Windows 17.0 statistical software to analyze the data. Results: 1. The measurements of Macular area in diabetes groups show the average is higher than the normal control group. 2. The macular thickness in location at the Center and A1 district is thickening in diabetes group. The thickness of A1 area and macular centre in the NDR, mild NPDR, severe NPDR has significantly different (P <0.05). 3. There is no significant difference of macular RNFL between The control group and the NDR group. The RNFL thickness in mild NPDR group is thiner than the control group. Conclusions: Stratus OCT could assesses the macular retinal thickness measurement and find out the retina thickening in diabetes without retionpathy or mild retinopathy. The thickness of A1 area, and macular centre is sensitive in early diabetic retinopathy. The RNFL thickness in mild NPDR group is thiner than the control group. |
