| OBJECTIVE: To investigate the main mechanism of carbapenem-resistance Enterobacteriaceae and the prevalence of KPC type carbapenemase in our hospital.METHODS: 11 strains of Enterobacteriaceae with reduced susceptibility to carbapenems were collected in our hospital from November 2009 to April 2010。The bacteria and MICs was identified by Vitek2Compact. The carbapenemase was tested by Modified Hodge test. The blaKPC, blaIMP, blaVIM were detected by PCR and DNA sequencing.RESULTS: 11 carbapenem-resistant strains were multi-drug resistant, of which one from ophthalmology and the others from ICU. Modified Hodge test were positive in 7 strains. The blaIMP-8 gene was identified in 6 strains by PCR and DNA sequencing. Both blaKPC and blaVIM gene were negative in all of the 11 strains.CONCLUSION: IMP-8 type carbapenemases is the major type of carbapenemases in our hospital .There has been a prevalence of IMP-8 type carbapenemases in our surgical ICU. KPC type carbapenemase was not found in the 11 carbapenem-resistant strains. |
