As the most characteristic Chinese traditional pattern, moire experienced a long time to develop in Chinese history. It is one of the most effective patterns in people's life with the most changeable and functional useages. Meanwhile, it has the special position in Chinese traditional art of pattern. After different periods of inheritance and change, moire represents the visible signal of the traditional visible memory and the measurement of appreciation with its special modes and meanings, it has big effect on the principle of Chinese modern visible design. My essay is mainly talking about how to develop the moire to make it full of the modern ideas without changing its original meaning.The origin of moire is more like the national way of expressions; when dealing with people, the vary cloud brings them indeterminate imaginations, and people summarize this as moire, at the same time, people put this into effect in all aspects of society. As a result, it fulfils people the emotional expressions to the original religion and the principle, it also has the meaning of happiness, peace and beauty. It is easy to find the cultural implication and value from traditional philosophic thinking, design thinking and folk culture. Moire has various design thinking and beautiful meaning in the aspect of historical traditional design applications. With the vary and change of history, the moire decoration is more to the development of plebification and secularization.The moire has changed in the aspect of design and structure from old times to the present times. With the continuously development, moire changes into concise and simplification, and it becomes into highly summarized and elegant style. In the part of application and method, we can find the development and evolution. Because of its sufficiency, the application of moire has big scale of usage, meanwhile, all the functions can make the moire derive more styles in all kinds of carriers. As the most important survey, my essay deeply talks about the application of the traditional moire in modern design. Nowadays, traditional style and appreciation are affected by the modern cultural language environment, and it faces the acid test. The development of moire faces the innovation. The traditional moire are widely used in modern design, but when facing the practical application, we can find modern moire still has some problems as below: intended application, copy blindly, lack of systematic theory and how to scan the redesign the moire in the view of aesthetics. My point of view is to reasonable absorb more emotion and dream from moire, it is easy to make the modern works more valuable in humanistic spirit.The case analysis of moire involves the mark design, package design, advertisement design, script design,pattern design and style design etc.According to the survey of Chinese traditional pattern and mean for moire, i designed for Shanxi Jixiang travel agency. My design takes different methods. I hope to make it as a reference for other design.All in all, the birth of moire is all about peace and pursue, it comes from the way of Chinese thinking. We need to insist on the development, inherit and innovation in case to pass on the traditional moire. At the same time, we need to improve, restructure the moire art, in case to innovate the design which is to fulfill the globalization. Only in this way can Chinese traditional moire have a long and competitive life.
