It is a necessity in the course of urbanization that city sculpture goes in the correct direction with unavoidable inundations at the same time.In order to shake off these inundations, artists and the masses should take great efforts; the government should manage it with efficiency and proper planning; sculptors should grasp the specific requirements and process of city sculpture and embody rich and localized city culture and salient city character from the perspective of spiritual civilization construction of the city. City sculpture is the spirit of city culture, the vital artistic form of urban development. Only by these collective efforts could city sculpture shake off sculpture trash and cultural dross, and elevate to the realm of the combination of urban human spirit and natural environment. Only that is the general mode of modern city development, which is in accordance with the country's"the 12th 5-year plan", and which could showcase the true glamour of a city.Nowadays, there are considerable demerits in the gradual functional shift and cultural extension of China's city sculpture. Comparatively speaking, China lags behind the Western countries. As a result, there appears blind worshipping of the West, which result in the weakened sense of cultural belonging. While the Western culture is transferring into"post-modernism", our way of thinking still lingers on the surface of"modernism". China has profound cultural deposit and historical tradition, therefore, it is our incumbent mission and responsibility to inherit our national culture and explore the cultures of different regions.
