Theme Analysis Of Edward Yang's Films

Taiwan films gains attention from international moviedom stards from "new film"movement, as "new film" standard-bearer of Edward Yang, he has played a very important role in film history of Taiwan. In the past 20 year's art career, he leave 8 films to people, though limited quantities, he record Taiwan history,Taiwan people's excitent straits.In this paper, I chose theme from perspective of theme analyse, put Yang's films in an vicissitude of society environment. Part 1 focuses on conflict between traditional value and modern civilization, and chose perspectives from family and individual to reveal exist plight of the people in Taipei. Part 2 focuses on image of urban, reveal exterior booming, analyse metaphor which films refers to, construe the reason of plight of urbanite.It's precious that Edward Yang paied close attention to society and consider the art is life. Simultaneously, let's observe moviedom nowadays. It's only stress on profit and entertaining, but ignore the reality and excitent straits, the bring on films decline of art and thoughts. Use the history for reference, and look forward to more masterpiece.
