Music is the art of emotion. This idea is deeply ingrained in the minds of Westerners. The discussion about the relationship between music and emotion has never stopped. For centuries, Western scholars have carried out relentless exploration on it. In China, music aesthetics is still a young discipline, so it is highly necessary to strengthen the research on it. Music in the Romantic time paid special attention to emotion. So, from the perspective of historical development, and focusing on the Rachmaninoff romance songs, this paper is aimed at finding out the reasons for the formation of romantic musical emotion and then analyzing its aesthetic pursuit for emotion. Starting from the birth of Romantic music, its social history and music history of development, the author briefly analyses Rachmaninoff and his romance songs and then elaborates the characteristics of Rachmaninoff romance Songs. Finally, the author sums up the main aesthetic features of Romantic Music, hoping to arouse a discussion on Aesthetic emotion of romantic Aesthetic. The author points out that the composers'inner, personalized, subjective, irrational new pursuit for emotion has had a long-standing influence so far. Furthermore, the author goes on to demonstrate his thinking about the aesthetic appreciation to other romantic music pieces.
