Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827) is great German composer, pianist, and the outstanding representative of the school of Vienna classical music.Beethoven's music composing characteristics, in the respects of form, style and manner, had followed the style of classic music represented by Haydn and Mozart in the 18th century. And as his personal music creation style continued to be matured and established, the characteristics of the romantic music style in the 19th century had been predicted and embodied during the middle and late period of his composing.In his whole life, Beethoven altogether produced five piano concertos which offered a popular form of the music. Among them, Piano Concerto No.3 in C Minor (Op.37) and Piano Concerto No.4 in G Major(Op.58) indicated and symbolized his transformation of composing style which was from classicism to romantism. This paper will compare and analysis the two piano concertos.By revealing the background of social and historical cultures in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, as well as the influence to both works impacted by his life experiences and idea of composing, the paper will gradually and deeply explore the similarities and differences.The paper is divided into three parts as follows.In The first part, it will briefly introduce Beethoven's composing rode and the history of the development of piano concertosIn the second part, it will analyze creative style characteristics Piano Concerto No.3 in C Minor (Op.37) and Piano Concerto No.4 in G Major (Op.58)In the third part, there will be a comparative study on the similarities and differences of the two piano concertos.
