A Probe Into The Style Of Piano Music In Vienna During The Classical Period

The term "classical" contains a balance, moderation, simplicity and refined concepts. Classical style has complex content and form. As the music theme, it commonly used classical style sonatas, concertos, symphonies and quartets, etc. Vienna is the music centers in classical period. Viennese music style in classical period is:Neat and symmetrical structure; tonality and harmony are the important factors in the work, paragraphs and movement have a more definite cadence; rich music thinking skills bred from the short motivation; among the movements, the theme change significantly. In a short, the classic style is from the great composers’ musical works, like Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.If we want to accurately grasp the Viennese piano music style, we need to understand the contents of performance by the composers and their works in that period.In this thesis, we put the Beethoven’s early11piano sonatas as the center and research the following contents. First, the development of the art in Vienna classical period. Second, Beethoven’s personal style and the tradition of musicians over the same period. Third, Beethoven’s music features and technologies. Fourth, The basic features of piano style in classical period. Through these researches, We found that:Beethoven’s music especially the sonata pioneered a new era of the music history. On the one hand, the creative process of Beethoven’s piano music almost throughout his whole life. On the other hand, Beethoven maximize the volume limit of piano and make good use of the Ultimate Sound area expressing the rapid speed. Beethoven’s comparative strength, tone zone range and timbre changes are all beyond the scope of application of Haydn and Mozart. Beethoven’s32sonatas have a overwhelming position in the history of piano art.This research take Beethoven sonatas for clues, through in-depth analysis, we consider:the most important thing for classical music is the beauty formal---steady while innovation. During this period, the music style are both serious and elegant, the characteristics are simple, dignified and accurate.In addition, this article explore the following things:How to create the right sound concept? How to understand and grasp the playing style of classical music? How to understand the composer’s creative intent by identifying the clause, pause and the music spectrum? We want to answer these questions in order to inspire later performers. We hope this paper may contribute to enhance the methods of learning musical works.
