Since the twentieth century, the world has become a smaller and smaller village with the rapid development of science and technology, and the exchanges and cooperation among different countries are more closely than that of any period before. More and more Chinese companies enter the world economic competition in the hope of making more benefits. As we all know, for a business or an individual, a perfect first image is the first step to success. However, there are kinds of problems in C-E translation of company profiles, such as Chinglish, inappropriate diction, grammatical errors, cultural misunderstanding and even spelling mistakes and so on, which impede the communication and cooperation between companies. The company profile translation is not only language translation, but also cultural exchanges and conversion. The geographical and cultural differences lead to the East-West differences in language and in thought.Basing on the previous researches and status quo of the company profile, this thesis attempts to probe into the C-E translation of Chinese company profiles from the perspective of Peter Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation in quest of efficiency ways to accurately transmit information and retain as much as possible the writing style and cultural characteristics of the original profiles as well.
