This thesis describes comprehensively ,in various aspects, Clan Thong in The Southern Dynasties in Wu Prefecture, in order to make the development of Clan Thong clear and discuss briefly the prosperity and degeneration of Clan Zhang. This thesis is divided into three parts, which connect with each other, and separate from each other as well. Part one, 揅lan Zhang and the politics of The Southern Dynasties? focuses on the description of the influence of Clan Zhang on The Southern Dynasties; the development of the Clan as well as the impact of historic change on the prosperity and degeneration of the clan.
