The Comparison Of 30, 40s Shanghai City Novel And 90s City Novel

In view of the current historal situation of the modem literature, whatever from the scale ,status and from being emphasized degree ,the city novel is just a banch of the modem literature .however ,from the point of city literature ,the city novel can be deeply explored. Furthermore, from the perspective of development, the city novel emerging conforms to the general trend of social development the urbanization of counturyside. Particularly the city novel combined with the rural subjects forms a co-exeistent situation.We select the urban-based subjects and generalize its basis characters. Studing its experiences and achievements and failures has a historic significance. Since the 1 949,the literature stuations and comments hava evoked the study of urban literature. My essey bases on fuiiy absorbing the achievements gained and comprehensively explreing the shanghai novels and the characteristicts of the city novel. In uriting skills, my paper adopts the historical and comparative methods. Approaching to the subject from two main aspects.Fist,it stuaies the aesthetic feature of the city novel set on the historical backgroud and different uriting skills.Second, it analysizes some typical authors, novels and biographies which mix with the characters of the current literature from the city novel. Though the two aspects combined, it can present the appearance of the current city novel. My essay includes five chapters. The first one mainly expounds the definition of current city novel based on the development and mobility of the urban connotation which provides the sphere and sources for this chapter. The second chapter firstly reviews the development of city novels ahd then selects the 30th and 40th Shanghai city novels and the 90th city novels as the main nontents.The third one describes the emerging of the two generations of city novels cultivated in the current urban soil. Furthermore, it reveals the social bacdground of the emerging and development of the city novel. The fourth chapter explains the similiarities between the two generations of the current city novels in the applications, the modes and emotions expressed. The last one detailedly present their opposite aesthetic styles owing to the different social situations and authors landed in the different social position and their influences. The last two chapters are the most main contents in the whole paper. Nowadays, China keeps the pace with the world growing and gradually takes shape the socialist constructions with distinct Chinese characteristics. The scenery of the urban largely occupies in literature field. Looking back the city novels, no one can deny its position as a direction in the twentyirst century.
