Objective: The process dissociation procedure (PDF) was applied to investigate the dissociation between explicit memory and implicit memory, and mood congruency memory in people with depression. Method: The design is 2(group: depressive, control) X3(word valence: positive, neutral, negative) X2(test: recognition, recall). 20depressed subjects met the criterion for major depression from CCMD-3, and 20 control people were matched to the depressed subjects. 120 words of affective valence included 40 positive, 40 neutral and 40 negative words. In the experiment, there were two sessions, study and test, and an interruption task between study and test. The subjects were required to assess the happiness of the words by 1-7 point scale, complete following interruption tasks. Then recall as well as recognition tests and SAS as well as SDS were in order administered. The PDF function suggested by Zhuying was used to calculate the R and A. Results: There were higher scores on the SAS and SDS in depressed subjects than control group. The main effect for word valence was not significant in the recognition test, but was significant in the recall test, similarly the groupXword interaction effect was not significant in the recognition test, but significant in the recall test. Sex differences didn't reach significant in conscious as well as unconscious retrieval of positive neutral and negative words. The correlation between SAS, SDS and conscious as well as unconscious retrieval was not significant in the recognition test, but was significant in the recall test. Conclusion: In the depressed people , dissociation between explicit and implicit memory don't show in the recognition test but show in the recall test in the depressed people. Sex differences in explicit and implicitmeaories don't appear in the depressed people. Functional independence of the explicit and implicit memory was found in the two tests, but the random independence of the explicit and implicit memory was only found in the recognition test. The mood congruency memory was expressed not in the recognition test, but in the recall test. The correlation between SAS, SDS and the explicit, implicit memory may be associated with memory task.
