The Study On Fuping Dialect

Fuping dialect is representative in northeast of central area inShaanxi Province.In this article,the author records the Fuping dialect scientificly and systermantically for the first time.The author not only emphatically analysizes the systerm of phonology,but also gives us the detailed description of grammar and vocabulary.Besides this,in order to reflet the dynamic characteristics of Fuping dialect,the author also records material of the dialect such as local proverbs,folk songs and folk rhyme.This article is devided into 4 parts:phono]ogy,vocabulary,grammar and examples of transcription. In the part of phonology,the author completely and explicitly describes the whold systerm on the initial of a syllable,the final of a syllable and the tone of characters,and points out their characteristics one by one .Also,the changing of tone in the flow of speech is discussed through the classification.In particular,in order to reveal the corresponding law of phonology between Fuping dialect and Mandarin Chinese,the author use the methods of comparison and contrast to study their differences and relations.At the same time.the author compares the phonology of Fuping dialect with the ancient phonology and trys to find their relations.Thereby.the author points out the characteristics of development from the ancient phonology to Fuping dialect.There are about 1000 words recorded in the part of vocabulary'.Among those words,more than 200 words have extremely distinguishing features,and they are explained briefly.In the part of grammar,the author emphatically discusses the overlapping pattern of dialect and describes the special usage of the ba pattern of sentence and the positive and negative interrogative sentence. In the part of examples of transcription,the author records the local proverbs,local sayings,folk songs and folk stories,and trys to use these to reflect the real appearance of Fuping dialect.For a long time,the study work on Shaanxi dialect especially the dialect in central area of Shaanxi procince has not been attached proper importance. And ,it is the fact that some dialects are changing and some particular phonomenas of dialect are on the way of disappearance.So we should pay much more attention to this. In this article,the author reflects the basic appearance of Fuping dialect though the description and analysis of it. So this can record and file the vivid material in order to save the heritage of dialect and to promote the further systermantic study on dialect of central area of Shaanxi Province.Morever,this has reference calue on studying dialects of other areas of Shaanxi .Dialect are the product of history development.Thus,different phenomenons of archaic Chinese have been retained in different dialects.In the chapter The Comparison between the Phonology of Fuping Dialect and the Ancient Phonology,the author pays attention to the development of every phonemes of the ancient phonology in Fuping dialect,and from this,the author analysizes the origin of the phonology of Fuping dialect.Therefore,this provides the vivid material to testify some important tracks of Chinese linguistic development in the study of Chineselinguistic history. And,to some extend,this also provides some reliable evidence to reestablish the systerm of archaic Chinese.Besides this,using the methods of comparative linguistics,the author reveals the correspondence law on the phonology between Fuping dialect and Mandarin Chinese.Then,this has practical significacnce to popularize the Mandarin Chinese in Fuping area. It is clear that words are the sensitive part in a language.They reflect the change of the social activities.The Classified Words Table in this article collects a lot of special words of Fuping dialect with illustration,and it can be used as a concise dialect dictionary,so it has much more practical value. Morover, it provides important material and clues of knowing the history,the culture,the custom and the social life in Fuping district.
