The Mystery Stories during the Wei and Jin and the Six Dynasties Periods are famous for its honestly recording principle, and traditionally we won't take them as fiction. After a narrative analysis, we are convinced that the qualitative changes in the Mystery Stories from historical narration to literary narrative symbolized the generation of Chinese fiction, which was characterized in its literary narrative. The thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter I: Identity transfer of the narrators. The people in charge of historical narration were the historians. By the end of Han Dynasty, these narrators were accomplished in fantastic and illusive narration, and the historians had been reduced to literati.Chapter II: Transformation of narrative purposes. Because the narrated subjects transferred from political events to anecdotes, the purposes of the narration changed from consultation and expostulation to amusement and entertainment.Chapter III: Adjustment of narrative angles. In accord with the purposes change, the angles of narration transferred from omniscient authority to finite angles, which would generate fantastic stories.Chapter IV: Transformation of narrative structures. There are three kinds of narrative structures in the Mystery Stories: graphic structure, lock-up structure and cycloidal structure, which revealed the developing tendency of the Stories. The contents narrated transferred from natural beings to civil lives, and the structures became precise and flexural because they retain the logic causes and effects.
