The rural construction movement in Fujian Province during the period of the Republic of China is a significant movement of social reform that seeked for rural modernization in the modern history of Fujian Province. On the basis of the analysis of the social historical background of Fujian rural construction movement, this thesis applies the theory of modernization .attaches importance to the following cases: the Yingqian Model Village, the Westlake Model Autonomous Village, Kegong rural construction experiment conducted by Fuzhou Electrics Company, rural construction experiment conducted by Fujian Christian University, Fujian Rural Education Movement, movement of "putting on fields according to the number of persons in the family" conducted by the No. 19 Army and the activity of "fostering owner peasants" carried out by Kuo Ming Tung Fujian government which made the west of Fujian as the main experimental area,. The thesis tries to elaborate the historical position of the Fujian Rural Construction Movement from different angles such as evaluation of its content, its features and historical significance, etc. The thesis also proposes some thoughts on the practical "problems of agriculture, village and peasants".
