PREFACEInterleukins(IL) are cytokines produced by lymph cells, mono-blast or other unmonoblast, playing important role in the cause of immunity , inflammation and making blood. Some studies find that schizophrenia has abnormal immunity, so the theories of viral and immunity have been put forward. With the developing of immunity technology and deeply acknowledging to the function of immunity system, some studies go into the cytokine field. This present study divided 40 schizophrenia to type I and type II, and compared them before and after treatment. The serum levels of interleukin - 1 b, interleukin -2 inter-leukin - 6 were measured by redioimmunoassay. We want to know the possibility that cytokines as double - regulated factor cause schizophrenic symptoms by observing the changes of serum interleukin level.MaterialsThe patients were from the China Medical University Psychonolo-gy Health Hospital, initially and free from antipsychosic drugs. Everyone was diagnosed by three - grades doctors, according to ICD -10. E-liminating severe heart, brain, liver, kidney deseases. No infection recently, no pregnant woman. Males were 19,females were 21. The normal controls were 20,among them males were 10,females were 10,nosevere body desease and psychosic desease. No statistics difference in age and sex between the patients and the controls.Methods1. Sample collection and disposal: Limosis elbow vein blood 2 ml from patients at 7:00 in the morning of the next day and the eighth week, set still ,separate the serum by centrifugal 10 min,3000r/min. Then put into the - 70 T! refregerator for unify test by radioimmuneas-say when all were ready.2. Scale assessment; At the first week all the patients were measured by PANSS to divided them into Type I and Type II.3. Statistic analysis: t - test and correlation analysis were made by SPSS10. 0RESULTS1. Compared the patients with the controls: The serum level of in-terleukin - 2 in schizophrenia was significantly lower than that in healthy controls.2. Compared type I with the healthy controls:The serum level of interleukin - 2 in type I was significantly lower than that in healthy controls. The serum level of interleukin -6 in post - treatment was significantly lower than that in healthy controls and pre - treatment.3. Compared type II with the healthy controls; The serum level of interleukin - 2 in pre - treatment was significantly lower than that in healthy controls and there was no difference after treatment. The serum level of IL - 1 bis significantly higher in post - treatment than that inpre - treatment4. Compared type I with type II : There was no difference before treatment, there was significantly difference in the interleukin -6 level after treatment.5. No significantly correlation between the interleukin level and PANSS.6. No significantly correlation across the IL - 1 b, IL - 2, IL - 6 of the patients and the healthy controls.DISCUSSIONIL - 2 is the key cytokine of schizophrenic immunity. This present study found that, the IL - 2 level of patients was always significantly lower than that in healthy controls before or after treatment, consisting with Villemain. Ganguli found that the IL - 2 level was decreased in the induce experiment. Villemain found the IL - 2 levels of 16 schizophrenia free from antipsychotic drug were significantly lower than those in controls. Nichuanyuan found the number of T cell was decreased and the ability to produce IL - 2 was decline, indicating the lower of IL - 2 level seem from the dysfunction of T - cell. Rapaport found the SIL -2R level was higher than that in normal controls, and the SIL - 2R could combine with IL - 2, so the IL - 2 level was decreased and the T - cell could not be acted. This present study found there was no significantly difference between type I and type II before treatment. After treatment, these three cytokines in type I were all decreased. On the contrary, those in type II were all ascend. This conclusion demonstrates that two types are difference on immu...
