In current foreign language teaching field, many methods and approaches are implemented and spread. The concept of "learner-centeredness" and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) are two of them. Meanwhile, another concept or notion, "learning-centeredness", has arisen for years. The thesis focuses on the notion of "learning-centeredness", trying to implement it in the current college English teaching and learning in China. The thesis first compares ''learning-centeredness" with the prevailing concept of "learner-centeredness" and CLT, pointing out that these three are closely related and have some similarities as well as some differences. Then, a research on current situation of college English teaching and learning was conducted, with two-class observation and a questionnaire as the instruments. In the research, two-class observation was conducted: one class was a College English class of Xiaozhai Campus of Changan University, and the other was a College English class of Xi'an Political Academy. The two classes were in almost the same level and using the same textbook. Then, a questionnaire was designed and 200 copies were handed out to three randomly selected classes in Political Academy of Xi'an and 168 copies were valid and collected and analyzed. The results of the observation and the questionnaire analysis show that the current teaching model is not learner-centered as was expected before and not suitable to learners' learning; while learning-centeredness, based on its concept, on the cultural background of China, on the conditions for successful learning and teaching, on the learning theories, etc., may be a worth-trying way to improve the current situation of College English teaching and learning.
