Study On The Relationship Between Noun And Quantifier

Chinese is rich in quantifiers, which is one of the characteristics of this language, the studies on quantifier have been deepening and ripening since its independent state was founded in ≤The address on syntax#. There is a close relationship between noun and quantifier, most of the quantifiers come from noun, and in our reality life many nouns are used as quantifier temporarily. Many studies on quantifier involve the relation between noun and quantifier, but they are not systemic and all-around. So I want to study the relation between noun and quantifier more in the area of nominal quantifier, and hope my study can be used for reference to the teaching of Foreign Chinese and literary produce.The thesis is composed of four parts. The first part is the summary of the relationship between noun and quantifier. I expatiate the relationship between them from three aspects: the nomenclature of quantifier, the taxonomy of quantifier and the origin of quantifier. The second part is the relationship between noun and unit quantifier, I study the container quantifier and metrology quantifier of every epoch from the times before chin dynasty to south and north dynasty. Expatiate why they come into being, why they have some of the quality of noun, and the gist that they come from noun. The third part is the relationship between noun and individual quantifier, in this part I consult ≤The handbook of Chinese quantifier≥ which is written by Guoxianzhen ,collect datum from the literature of the modem times and the present age and the literature of every dynasty that close to spoken language ,discuss the types of relationship between noun and quantifier. I get more comprehensive result because I made a contrast of the analysis between nonce and history.The forth part is that noun used as quantifier temporarily, analyze the quantification that noun used for quantifier temporarily, and sum up the meaning character that noun can be used as quantifier temporarily; discuss the quantification that noun can be used as nominal quantifier from three aspect: language environment, style of writing, rhetoric; Expatiate the effect of noun being used as quantifier from two aspect: meaning and aesthetic feeling.
