He broke narrative pattern and shot skill of old films in Taiwan, and formatted his own special style.In conclusion, Hou Hsiao Hsien is one of the excellent directors in the world. He is not only a pioneer of New Movie Movement in Taiwan, but a guide to introducing Taiwan films to the whole world. Being a movie author with humanism, he persists in his profound themes, unique aesthetics idea and individual shot style for a long time, and becomes a respected movie great master.
