The Research On The Value And Flaw Of Huan Yu Tong Zhi(《寰宇通志》)

Abstract: As an historical-geographic works, Huan Yu Tong Zhi(《寰宇通志》) plays an important part in the development of China's historical-geography. But the academic circles have been lacking the thorough research to it. There are abundant data on Chinese history, literature, historical-geography in Huan Yu Tong Zbi(《寰宇通志》).I want to study compilation, contents, rules, value and flaws of it, so as to exactly evaluate it and efficiently utilize it.The dissertation consists of seven parts. In the introduction, there is a brief account of Huan Yu Tong Zhi(《寰宇通志》) and the academic trend. After reviewing the former achievements, I analyze some inadequacies of the past research, for example, there are few studies in depth. I point out that attaching no importance results in this kind of inadequacies.The first section makes research on the social background and the humanities environments of previous historical-geographic works, combining the four historical-geographic works that were made before in Ming-Dynasty. I put forward own viewpoint about the conversion of geographic works in Ming-Dynasty. Because of political reasons, Huan Yu Tong Zhi (《寰宇通志》) had been officially banned. I browse a great quantities public and private bibliographies to delineate the spreading of it, and introduce the characteristics of it's engraving.The second section is about the characteristics of compilation. Huan Yu Tong Zhi( 《寰宇通志》 ) appeared in 1456, exactly in the process of geographic works gradually to develop and mature. Therefore, its style is totally different from other geographic works, such as Yu Di Ji Sheng( 《舆地纪胜》 ), Fang Yu Sheng Lan ( 《方舆胜览》 ), Ming Yi Tong Zhi( 《明一统志》), Qing Yi Tong Zhi( 《清一统志》). Huan Yu Tong Zhi(《寰宇通志》) has some own special features.The third section investigates the sources of historical data in Huan Yu Tong Zhi(《寰宇通志》) .The criticism of Ming Yi Tong Zhi( 《明一统志》 ) indirectly affectsthe appliance of Huan Yu Tong Zhi (《寰宇通志》). Therefore, making clear the sourcesof historical data in the Huan Yu Tong Zhi (《寰宇通志》) is significant.
