Studies On Synonyms Of Monosyllable-verb In The Discussion On Salt And Iron

Our ancestors have already noticed synonyms in the pre-Qin period and the continuous research has been done more than 2,000 years since then. The research of archaic Chinese synonym has make a lot of research results in the past 50 years, especially in the past 20 years.The research achievements for these 20 years can be divided into two respects: theory and practice. Theories on definition of synonym, constructing group methods, differentiating and analyzing methods are deeply discussed. The scholars' understanding of synonym melts deeply gradually, they have put forward the constructing group method, which is feasible and much more operation. Scholars consider that the meaning of a word as the unit, but not word when differentiating and analyzing synonyms. Base on the analysis of studies on our ancestors' achievements, this article gives a new definition of synonym.We redefine it as a group of notional words which have the same head plereme at one sememe in the same era and the same language (or dialect).Practice includes differentiating and analyzing of archaic Chinese synonym that is in a general ear and studies on the monograph. Studies of differentiating and analyzing on archaic Chinese synonyms of general era and usually does not consider the time line of demarcation of language development. The archaic Chinese is considered as an entirety and its representative achievement is Differentiating between Ancient Chinese Literary Styles by Wang Fengyang, etc.. This kind of achievement can consider the system of meaning group and meaning category into account while constructing the synonym group. The careful differentiating and analyze offered us the reliable reference material when we read the ancient books. The existing problem is that era conception is not strong, but because they lack the idea of the history. The studies on monograph is a basic job. It includes two kinds of works, one regards works of ancient linguistics (philology) as the research object. This kind of research has summarized based on the ancient's synonym studies, and has excavated then-research approach, which contributes to inherit and develop the ancient'sexperience. But the language material of this kind of book doesn't have accurate era, so studies on them have limited value on structuring the historical frame of the whole vocabulary. Another kind is regarded all or some synonyms of a certain typical language materials of era as the research object. Because this kind of research uses the typical language material of period as research object and studies possibly limited, their characters of era is outstanding, the synonym phenomena reflected is relatively objective. This kind of studies can offer the valuable basic materials for dynastic and successive dynasties studying of synonyms . This kind of research is on behalf of developing direction that synonym study and should be the key of the synonym study at present. The problem existing at present is that the energy, which everybody invests on this respect lacks very much. This article chooses this kind of research based on it and some element tasks in dynastic and successive dynasties studying of synonyms are expected.Language materials in this article are chosen from Discussion on Salt and Iron which is recorded and compiled by Huan Kuan, according to the iron of meeting held by Han Zhao Emperor.
