Conflict is one of social interactions that occur frequently between children. Over a long time, we only notice the shadowy pictures which conflict exhibit on the surface. In fact, conflicts can promote individual development and thus has a positive value for development at a deep level. Perspective-taking, as a social cognitive ability, is not only tied to the intellectual growth of children, but also plays a tremendous role for children in keeping themselves away from the self-centeredness, establishing a sound peer relationship and forming socially-prone behaviors.By adopting the method of random sampling and stratified sampling, this research takes 226 children at the age of 3-6 as the research subjects; from 6 classes out of junior, middle and senior grades, 2 from each grade. The method of event sampling observation is taken to conduct a field observation of the spontaneous peer conflict among those subjects, during which various peer-conflict situations are observed, recorded and listed. The social perspective-taking ability of those subjects is tested by four perspective-taking assignments. With all the valid materials being collected and put in order, multiple analysis techniques attached to statistics and the software SPSS 11.0 are employed on observations and testing scores to draw certain conclusions.The results are as follows:1. Children at the age of 3 or 4 have already acquired certain perspective-taking abilities. And their command of perspective-taking assignment iimproves with the increasing of age. At 6-year-old, children begin to overcome the egoism in recognition by preliminarily realizing that the individual's opinion towards an event depends on the specific information s/he receives. However, as to the achievement of accurate inference of other's perspectives, they still have great difficulty.2. The developing tendency of children's cognitive perspective-taking ability is basically consistent with that of their emotional one. However, the development of the latter lags behind that of the former. And no gender difference exists in children's social perspective-taking ability.3.
