Gender And Language

This paper focuses on gender differences in language use. It offers a wide range of sociolinguistic analyses on language used by and used about women and men, studies gender differences in communication and rhetorical styles and finally examines possible models of explanation for these differences.This paper first briefly introduces the relationship between gender and language. In Chapter â…¡ and Chapter â…¢, a power-related perspective and an intercultural perspective on gender differentiation are under discussion. In Chapter â…£, much space is devoted to different sociolinguistic behaviors observed in men and women's communication. In Chapter â…¤, possible explanations for those differences are brought up and criticized. The last chapter looks into the role of gender differences in promoting changes in our society.
