Emperor Qianlong And The Compilation Of Si Ku Quan Shu

Si Ku Quan Shu was the biggest series in Chinese history,that was compiled by the famous scholars which were organized by the court of Qianlong(1735 — 1795),and the compilation lasted more than ten years .The whole compilation process,from beginning to end,was under Emperor Qianlong's directly control. And his imperial instructions was the highest direction which supervised and controlled every step of the process.From the collection of all the books,to the organization of compiled Si Ku Quan Shu,and then store up Si Ku Quan Shu, Emperor Qianlong concerns with all the affairs one by one whether they were important business or small details.He mastered the final decision authority of the compilation,and all work must be decided by Emperor Qianlong himself.So we can say that without Emperor Qianlong there would be no Si Ku Quan Shu.Of course, Emperor Qianlong also leaded the movement of forbidden books in the process.which was a great calamity in Chinese cultural history .Though there were some deficiencies, his work toward the compilation of Si Ku Quan Shu were entitled to affirm. And the compilation of Si Ku Quan Shu was an achievement in Chinese cultural history.From his imperial instructions the article tries to argue the contributions and significances that Emperor Qianlong had done in the process .The article is divided into two sections,introduction and text. The introduction summarizes the proposition of the article. The text includes five chapters,the first chapter describes that Emperor Qianlong himself decided to compile Si Ku Quan Shu;the second chapter discusses Emperor Qianlong personally manage to collect the world books;the third chapter expounds he directly concerns with the whole process of compilation;the fourth chapter analyzes the influence that Emperor Qianlong's thought has affected on Si Ku Quart Shu;the fifth chapter expounds Emperor Qianlong himself decided the store and reading method of Si Ku Quan Shu.
