This thesis is an interdisciplinary attempt to connect translation studies and bilingualism studies. The influence of bilingualism on translation has been an essential subject in the area of translation studies for a long period of time. Meanwhile, the comparison and analysis of translation outputs carried out by different types of bilinguals have also drawn an increasing attention from more and more scholars in this regard. The differences in bilingual contexts caused by historical issues between Chinese Mainland (CM) and Hong Kong (HK) have been thoroughly explored in the areas of education, culture and etc. however, such an exploration is not yet systematically conducted in translation studies. This thesis will compare the language features on the lexical level of the texts which are translated from Chinese into English by translators from both sides, and, with the guidance of relative theories and experimental models concerning Semantic Representation (SR) and types of bilinguals, especially Compound Bilinguals (CPB) and Coordinate Bilinguals (CDB ) , it is hopeful that any relations can be found between the result of comparison and the bilinguality of Mainland translators and Hong Kong translators.
