| Wang Fu-chih (Chuan-shan) is one of the greatest scholars during the last period of Ming Dynasty and the early period of Qing Dynasty. Though his philosophy and historical thoughts have been studied thoroughly, the study of Chuan-shan's Ci is comparatively backward. Chuan-shan's Ci have distinctive features of his era and its own style. It goes without question that the study on the Ci written by Chuan-shan will be of significant means for us to understand the Ci of Qing Dynasty integrally. From the aspect of "the spirit", Chuan-shan's Ci is studied.Before the study, basic information about the last period of Ming Dynasty and the early period of Qing Dynasty is given firstly. Based on the special social and cultural backgrounds, Chuan-shan's inner feelings are analyzed. And from the collected literary theory written by Chuan-shan, the kernel of his theory is reflected clearly.The second part discusses the subjective disposition of Chuan-shan's Ci. The first section expounds the spirit descending from Li Sao; The second section expresses Chuan-shan's emotion of regret and criticism which is similar with the Book of Songs; The third section expresses Chuan-shan's national consciousness; The fourth section discusses Chuan-shan's heroic spirit that he wanted to develop his mother land and recover Ming Dynasty, and discusses the leading style of melancholy and depression, strong and sturdy, descending from Xin Jia-xuan.The third chapter discusses the poly-dimensional artistic techniques of Chuan-shan's Ci: comparison and affective image, writing of an event and use of reference, sounds and scene. Through studying the usage of these techniques, the inner emotions of the writer and the esthetic value of the texts are opened out.In brief, focusing on the spirit of Chuan-shan's Ci, we not only intend to reveal the complicated feelings hiding in the deep heart of Chuan-shan, but also aim to highlight the application of the artistic methods in the creating of the Ci written by Wang Chuan-shan. |
