Hutian dialect belongs to the Lou-shao dialects as a sub-Xiang dialect. There is a general quantifier that is the "ft" in Hutian dialect. The scope of its usage is more extensive than the quantifier "只" in Mandarin. What's more, the quantifier "隻" can indicate the quantity of human beings or things widespreadly. The scope of its usage is about the same as the quantifier "个" in Mandarin. We can say the "隻" is an omnipotent quantifier in Hutian dialect.When the quantifier "隻" alone is connected with a noun, namely that the numeral and demonstractive pronoun don't appear in the front of the quantifier "隻" (the "隻" is called the bare quantifier at the moment). The "隻+noun" can be used to all kinds of the syntactic elements, such as tha subject,predication, object ,attributive and so on, even this structure can be modified and restricted by other elements.In semantics, the bare quantifier "隻" is connected with the noun, composing the structure of the "隻+noun" ,which take on not only the function of the expressing quantity but also the function of the direction. The function of the direction doesn' t belong to the "隻" itself,however,it is bestowed by the syntactic location where the "隻 +noun" stands. And then we want to make difference between identific and nonidentific, between near direction and far direction, according to the phonetic form and concrete contexts mainly.After introducing the conditions in Hutian town, Xiangxiang district, and the general situation briefly, this thesis describes the grammatical functions and the grammatical meanings of the quantifier "隻" and "隻 +noun" on the basis of putting in order the system of the initial consonant,rhyme and tune in Hutian dialect, proceeding to the next step to compare the structure of the "ft+noun" in Hutian dialect with the structure of the "quantifier+noun" in Mandarin.
