A Study On The Sex-marks In The Words Of Chinese Dialects

In the long history, Chinese language has formed a complex system of sex marks. The sex marks refer to the words and expressions or the constructive components in words which have different functions in the sex aspect. In the west, the sex mark research is taken as the dependency part of sex research in grammar category; and in China, formerly the domestic research also mainly aims at the difference of sex marks in north and south dialects and the position of sex mark in words and expressions and so on. This article utilizes the knowledge of etymology, cognitive linguistics and dialectic geographic typology, and uses the method of synchronic description as well as the method of seeking the origin of the sex marks, the comparative method, the dialect geography method to carry the system description and synthesis analysis on the sex marks in Chinese dialect words and expressions and their geographic distribution, thus promulgates the rules of their.This article divides into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, mainly introduces the basic concepts such as sex, sex mark, sex category and the relations between them gives a research survey about the sex marks in China and abroad and introduces the contents, significance and methods of this article. The second and the third chapters analyze the male and female sex marks in the Chinese dialect words and expressions. The fourth chapter mainly elaborates geographic differences of sex mark in Chinese dialect words and expressions from two aspects: (l)the marks of the identical sex of identical kind of animal, used in different dialects are different; (2)the positions of sex marks in words and expressions in north and south Chinese dialects are different. The fifth chapter utilizes the theory of cognitive linguistics to analyze the grammarticalizational process of some sex marks in Chinese dialect.In a word, this article explores the value of sex marks in Chinese dialect system. Maybe it can promote the further research of sex marks and enrich achievement of dialect lexicology.
