Therre's a popular parlance about Jimmi dialect that is a kind of blended and dialect system accompanied with the characteristics of Minnan dialect, Hakka and Cantonese (cited fromhttp://www.southcn.com/news/dishi/shanwei/sqbl/200406060332.htm). This thesis has carried out a survey in Haifeng Erbu, Chishi, Huidong Jilong and Tiechong, and made a comparison between Haifeng's Jimmi dialect and Huidong's Jimmi dialect, and the similarity and the diversity among Jimmi dialect, Minnan dialect, Hakka and Cantonese at the level of pronunciation and vocabulary.Speaking of pronunciation, Jimmi dialect preserves much of the Cantonese, mixed a little bit with Hakka pronunciation and with a few traces of Minnan dialect. If combined with The studies of vocabulary system, it seems complicate.Studying Jimmi dialect can help understand the evolution of Chinese dialects and the varieties between them.
